The swathes of bright green found at the foot of Mount Fuji, described by UNESCO as a ‘sacred site and source of artistic inspiration’, are a particularly popular spot for a walk. These famous tea fields often appear in films and adverts.
The region is known as the capital of green tea. Shizuoka prefecture produces over 40% of the national output of this beverage, rich in antioxidants which are renowned for their capacity to reduce stress, among other things. Many people consider the drink as the secret to a long life.
