In the Yamagata region, known for its three sacred mountains, the Shonai Hotel Suiden Terrasse took a chance by choosing not to open in a big city, but rather in the middle of paddy fields to boost the economy of a region still relatively unknown to tourists. Peace and quiet are therefore its major selling points.
In addition to the impeccable service and optimal comfort, the 143 rooms in the hotel, which opened in September 2018, are warmly decorated with wood and designed by the famous Japanese architect Shigeru Ban. A fitness room, a library, a restaurant serving fresh local products, and hot springs reinforce the importance of disconnecting, a value promoted by the Shonai Hotel Suiden Terrasse.
More information can be found on the hotel’s website.
