Green Tea in all its Forms in Tokyo
RESTAURANT 1899 OCHANOMIZU
Located in Tokyo’s Ochanomizu district, Restaurant 1899 Ochanomizu is the only establishment that put the taste and finesse of green tea through its paces in all its forms. There are a number of surprising, but none the less appetising, choices celebrating the ingredient with thirteen different dishes including a green tea roll omelette, a matcha potato salad, a variety of green sausages with matcha fries, all accompanied by the unbeatable green tea or, for the more adventurous, a matcha beer or a matcha wine. This unique restaurant, open since 2014, presents a fine cuisine managing to introduce tea to various dishes without hiding or overshadowing other flavours, such as umami.
The decor is equally as pleasing, the interior is soothing, adorned with a green colour that suits this new Japanese cuisine down to the ground.
