Miho Kawakami’s Home Surrounded by Greenery
In 2020, this food stylist and her family moved to a house in the heart of the forest in Karuizawa, north-west of Tokyo.
In 2018, Miho Kawakami and her husband set out in search of some land to purchase in Karuizawa, a resort town that’s extremely popular with the residents of nearby Tokyo. After the building work and interior decoration were completed, the family started living there part time in March 2020.
This open-plan space characterised by fluid movement encourages its inhabitants to take a breath and contemplate the curtain of trees that extends around the house. The couple’s primary wish was to be able to spend quality time there as a family with their little girl.
Miho Kawakami is a chef and essayist. She trained in restaurants in Tokyo and Italy and now devotes her time to food styling and writing articles on the topics of lifestyle and gastronomy.
